WHAT SENSE DOES IT MAKE? As we seek to make sense of the catastrophic events unfolding around us, we will attach whatever meaning makes sense to us at the time. The meaning that we attach to an event is rooted in our current experience. Hence, an event will have the meaning we give it...based on what makes sense to us.
If we have never experienced being the hands that inflict violence, we ask: "How could someone do that?"
If we have never experienced how to resolve conflict without violence, we ask: "What other way is there?"
If we have never experienced love, we ask: Why should anyone else live joyfully when I'm in so much pain?"
If we have never experienced hope, we ask: "What does it matter?"
If we have never experienced God, we ask: "How could you let this happen?"
As we attempt to make sense of our world, we should recognize that we start out all the same -- as pure love. What makes us different is our experiences, which form our beliefs, which then guide our actions. If our actions are directed toward being separate from one another, we operate in fear. If our actions are directed toward bringing us back together, we operate in love.
What makes sense to me, in the face of tragic events, is that they occur in order to divide us (fear), or to unite us (love). If I begin to blame, point fingers, and judge others as evil, I act in fear. If instead, I look to myself and ask..."What can I do to help make your life better?" I act in love.
Either way, I have the choice.
What is your choice?

Congratulations to Illa Parks, winner of the Best Pitch Award, and a graduate of the 2017 Teen Biz Camp sponsored by #TargetEvolution. The company's CEO, Crystal Victoria, announced that her program handbook has been adopted as the official entrepreneur handbook for UNT's entrepreneurship program. Now that's progress! It was so much fun training these kids on how to set goals, and how to pitch their business. Congratulations Illa, and Crystal!! #LiveRemarkably #LoveRemarkably #ServeRemarkably ... See MoreSee Less
